Money advice - Dorset

The United Kingdom is one of the few EU members that has not actually introduced the euro. And although joining the single currency is not entirely off the cards, it doesn't look like there's going to be much change in the immediate future. So it's the trusty old pounds and pennies that you'll have jingling in your pockets. Not so long ago, ten pennies used to buy a nice bag of sweets. These days those copper coins won't get you very far. And smokers will be shocked at how much a pack of 'fags' costs these days. Come to think of it, the only thing that's cheap is your flight out the country - and that only includes Europe!

ATMs (Cash Machines)

Locals tend to call them cash machines or holes in the wall, and they're plentiful in Her Majesty's kingdom. That said, don't expect to find them in villages. The odd petrol station may have one, but generally speaking, you'll have track'em down in town.

Credit Cards

Cards are pretty universal these days. Even country pubs accept them. So no need to worry on that score. Naturally, if you're buying something for less than a couple of quid (pounds), cash is more welcome.

Cheques

Bureaux de Change (Wechselstuben)

The bigger towns should be peppered with bureaux de change, and small town travel agents should also be able to help out.
