There are lots of stereotypes swirling over the British Isles. And we should say from the off that the one about it raining all the time is complete rubbish (90% of the time anyway!) That said, it's true that the English like to chat about the weather. It's a theme that breaks down most barriers. The weather is a safer ice-breaker than mothers-in-law or mad cows disease. But before we get carried away, just what should the informed traveller expect on the meteorological front? Of course, we live in strange times, with freak weather playing havoc across the world. But in Dorset, snow is rare in winter, as are baking hot temperatures in summer. Whilst there may be the odd bit of drizzle once in a while, umbrellas are not the essentials of life in England. | | |
